True in the beginning, True
throughout the ages,

His Lotus Feet are True, and True
are those who touch Them.
ਪੂਜਾ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸੇਵਦਾਰ ॥
Poojaa Sath Sath Saevadhaar ||
पूजा सति सति सेवदार ॥
His devotional worship is True, and
True are those who worship Him.
ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪੇਖਨਹਾਰ ॥
Dharasan Sath Sath Paekhanehaar
||
दरसनु सति सति पेखनहार ॥
The Blessing of His Vision is True,
and True are those who behold it.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਨਹਾਰ ॥
Naam Sath Sath Dhhiaavanehaar ||
नामु सति सति धिआवनहार ॥
His Naam is True, and True are those
who meditate on it.
ਆਪਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਭ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Aap Sath Sath Sabh Dhhaaree ||
आपि सति सति सभ धारी ॥
He Himself is True, and True is all
that He sustains.
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣਕਾਰੀ ॥
Aapae Gun Aapae Gunakaaree ||
आपे गुण आपे गुणकारी ॥
He Himself is virtuous goodness, and
He Himself is the Bestower of virtue.
ਸਬਦੁ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਕਤਾ ॥
Sabadh Sath Sath Prabh Bakathaa

सबदु सति सति प्रभु बकता ॥
The Word of His Shabad is True, and
True are those who speak of God.
ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਤਾ ॥
Surath Sath Sath Jas Sunathaa ||
सुरति सति सति जसु सुनता ॥
Those ears are True, and True are those
who listen to His Praises.
ਬੁਝਨਹਾਰ ਕਉ ਸਤਿ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bujhanehaar Ko Sath Sabh Hoe ||
बुझनहार कउ सति सभ होइ ॥
All is True to one who understands.

सति सरूपु रिदै जिनि मानिआ ॥
One who believes in the Embodiment
of Truth with all his heart
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਤਿਨਿ ਮੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥

करन करावन तिनि मूलु पछानिआ ॥
Recognizes the Cause of causes as
the Root of all.

जा कै रिदै बिस्वासु प्रभ आइआ ॥
One whose heart is filled with faith
in God

Pragattaaeiaa ||
ततु गिआनु तिसु मनि प्रगटाइआ ॥
The essence of spiritual wisdom is
revealed to his mind.
ਭੈ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸਾਨਾ ॥
Bhai Thae Nirabho Hoe Basaanaa ||
भै ते निरभउ होइ बसाना ॥
Coming out of fear, he comes to live
without fear.
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
Jis Thae Oupajiaa This Maahi
Samaanaa ||
जिस ते उपजिआ तिसु माहि समाना ॥
He is absorbed into the One, from
whom he originated.
ਬਸਤੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਲੇ ਬਸਤੁ ਗਡਾਈ ॥
Basath Maahi Lae Basath Gaddaaee
||
बसतु माहि ले बसतु गडाई ॥
When something blends with its own,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਭਿੰਨ ਨ ਕਹਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
Thaa Ko Bhinn N Kehanaa Jaaee ||
ता कउ भिंन न कहना जाई ॥
It cannot be said to be separate
from it.
ਬੂਝੈ ਬੂਝਨਹਾਰੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ॥
Boojhai Boojhanehaar Bibaek ||
बूझै बूझनहारु बिबेक ॥
This is understood only by one of discerning
understanding.
ਨਾਰਾਇਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ॥੨॥
Naaraaein Milae Naanak Eaek ||2||
नाराइन मिले नानक एक ॥२॥
Meeting with the Lord, O Nanak, he
becomes one with Him. ||2||

The servant is obedient to his Lord
and Master.

Poojaaree ||
ठाकुर का सेवकु सदा पूजारी ॥
The servant worships his Lord and
Master forever.

The servant of the Lord Master has

The servant of the Lord Master lives
a pure lifestyle.

ठाकुर कउ सेवकु जानै संगि ॥
The servant of the Lord Master knows
that the Lord is with him.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥

प्रभ का सेवकु नाम कै रंगि ॥
God's servant is attuned to the
Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਲਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
Saevak Ko Prabh Paalanehaaraa ||
सेवक कउ प्रभ पालनहारा ॥
God is the Cherisher of His servant.
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Saevak Kee Raakhai Nirankaaraa ||
सेवक की राखै निरंकारा ॥
The Formless Lord preserves His
servant.
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
So Saevak Jis Dhaeiaa Prabh
Dhhaarai ||
सो सेवकु जिसु दइआ प्रभु धारै ॥
Unto His servant, God bestows His
Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥

Samaarai ||3||
नानक सो सेवकु सासि सासि समारै ॥३॥
O Nanak, that servant remembers Him
with each and every breath. ||3||
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਪਰਦਾ ਢਾਕੈ ॥
Apunae Jan Kaa Paradhaa Dtaakai
||
अपुने जन का परदा ढाकै ॥
He covers the faults of His servant.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਸਰਪਰ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Apanae Saevak Kee Sarapar Raakhai
||
अपने सेवक की सरपर राखै ॥
He surely preserves the honor of His
servant.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
Apanae Dhaas Ko Dhaee Vaddaaee ||
अपने दास कउ देइ वडाई ॥
He blesses His slave with greatness.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਈ ॥
Apanae Saevak Ko Naam Japaaee ||
अपने सेवक कउ नामु जपाई ॥
He inspires His servant to chant the
Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥

अपने सेवक की आपि पति राखै ॥
He Himself preserves the honor of
His servant.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Thaa Kee Gath Mith Koe N Laakhai
||
ता की गति मिति कोइ न लाखै ॥
No one knows His state and extent.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਕੋ ਨ ਪਹੂਚੈ ॥

Pehoochai ||
प्रभ के सेवक कउ को न पहूचै ॥
No one is equal to the servant of
God.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੇ ॥
Prabh Kae Saevak Ooch Thae Oochae
||
प्रभ के सेवक ऊच ते ऊचे ॥
The servant of God is the highest of
the high.
ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Jo Prabh Apanee Saevaa Laaeiaa ||
जो प्रभि अपनी सेवा लाइआ ॥
One whom God applies to His own
service, O Nanak
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥

Pragattaaeiaa ||4||
नानक सो सेवकु दह दिसि प्रगटाइआ ॥४॥
- that servant is famous in the ten
directions. ||4||
ਨੀਕੀ ਕੀਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਕਲ ਰਾਖੈ ॥
Neekee Keeree Mehi Kal Raakhai ||
नीकी कीरी महि कल राखै ॥
He infuses His Power into the tiny
ant;
ਭਸਮ ਕਰੈ ਲਸਕਰ ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Bhasam Karai Lasakar Kott Laakhai
||
भसम करै लसकर कोटि लाखै ॥
It can then reduce the armies of
millions to ashes
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾਸੁ ਨ ਕਾਢਤ ਆਪਿ ॥
Jis Kaa Saas N Kaadtath Aap ||
जिस का सासु न काढत आपि ॥
Those whose breath of life He
Himself does not take away
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖਤ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥
Thaa Ko Raakhath Dhae Kar Haathh
||
ता कउ राखत दे करि हाथ ॥
He preserves them, and holds out
His Hands to protect them.
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਤ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥
Maanas Jathan Karath Bahu Bhaath
||
मानस जतन करत बहु भाति ॥
You may make all sorts of efforts,
ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਬਿਰਥੇ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
This Kae Karathab Birathhae Jaath
||
तिस के करतब बिरथे जाति ॥
But these attempts are in vain.
ਮਾਰੈ ਨ ਰਾਖੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Maarai N Raakhai Avar N Koe ||
मारै न राखै अवरु न कोइ ॥
No one else can kill or preserve
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਰਾਖਾ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sarab Jeeaa Kaa Raakhaa Soe ||
सरब जीआ का राखा सोइ ॥
He is the Protector of all beings.
ਕਾਹੇ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥
Kaahae Soch Karehi Rae Praanee ||
काहे सोच करहि रे प्राणी ॥
So why are you so anxious, O mortal?
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਲਖ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ॥੫॥

जपि नानक प्रभ अलख विडाणी ॥५॥
Meditate, O Nanak, on God, the
invisible, the wonderful! ||5||

Baaran Baar Baar Prabh Japeeai ||
बारं बार बार प्रभु जपीऐ ॥
Time after time, again and again,
meditate on God.
ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਧ੍ਰਪੀਐ ॥
Pee Anmrith Eihu Man Than
Dhhrapeeai ||
पी अम्रितु इहु मनु तनु ध्रपीऐ ॥
Drinking in this Nectar, this mind
and body are satisfied.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Naam Rathan Jin Guramukh Paaeiaa

नाम रतनु जिनि गुरमुखि पाइआ ॥
The jewel of the Naam is obtained by
the Gurmukhs;
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਆ ॥
This Kishh Avar Naahee
Dhrisattaaeiaa ||
तिसु किछु अवरु नाही द्रिसटाइआ ॥
They see no other than God.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
Naam Dhhan Naamo Roop Rang ||
नामु धनु नामो रूपु रंगु ॥
Unto them, the Naam is wealth, the
Naam is beauty and delight.
ਨਾਮੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Naamo Sukh Har Naam Kaa Sang ||
नामो सुखु हरि नाम का संगु ॥
The Naam is peace, the Lord's Name
is their companion.
ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਜੋ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
Naam Ras Jo Jan Thripathaanae ||
नाम रसि जो जन त्रिपताने ॥
Those who are satisfied by the
essence of the Naam
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਨਾਮਹਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥
Man Than Naamehi Naam Samaanae ||
मन तन नामहि नामि समाने ॥
Their minds and bodies are drenched
with the Naam.
ਊਠਤ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੋਵਤ ਨਾਮ ॥
Oothath Baithath Sovath Naam ||
ऊठत बैठत सोवत नाम ॥
While standing up, sitting down and
sleeping, the Naam,
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਕਾਮ ॥੬॥

कहु नानक जन कै सद काम ॥६॥
Says Nanak, is forever the
occupation of God's humble servant. ||6||
ਬੋਲਹੁ ਜਸੁ ਜਿਹਬਾ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
Bolahu Jas Jihabaa Dhin Raath ||
बोलहु जसु जिहबा दिनु राति ॥
Chant His Praises with your tongue, day
and night.
ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਜਨ ਕੀਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
Prabh Apanai Jan Keenee Dhaath ||
प्रभि अपनै जन कीनी दाति ॥
God Himself has given this gift to
His servants.
ਕਰਹਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਆਤਮ ਕੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
Karehi Bhagath Aatham Kai Chaae
||
करहि भगति आतम कै चाइ ॥
Performing devotional worship with
heart-felt love,
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਿਉ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Prabh Apanae Sio Rehehi Samaae ||
प्रभ अपने सिउ रहहि समाइ ॥
They remain absorbed in God Himself.
ਜੋ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਵਤ ਸੋ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
Jo Hoaa Hovath So Jaanai ||
जो होआ होवत सो जानै ॥
They know the past and the present.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਨੈ ॥
Prabh Apanae Kaa Hukam Pashhaanai
||
प्रभ अपने का हुकमु पछानै ॥
They recognize God's Own Command.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਉਨ ਬਖਾਨਉ ॥
This Kee Mehimaa Koun Bakhaano ||
तिस की महिमा कउन बखानउ ॥
Who can describe His Glory?
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗੁਨੁ ਕਹਿ ਏਕ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ॥
This Kaa Gun Kehi Eaek N Jaano ||
तिस का गुनु कहि एक न जानउ ॥
I cannot describe even one of His
virtuous qualities.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਸਹਿ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥
Aath Pehar Prabh Basehi Hajoorae
||
आठ पहर प्रभ बसहि हजूरे ॥
Those who dwell in God's Presence,
twenty-four hours a day
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਨ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੭॥

कहु नानक सेई जन पूरे ॥७॥
- says Nanak, they are the perfect
persons. ||7||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
Man Maerae Thin Kee Outt Laehi ||
मन मेरे तिन की ओट लेहि ॥
O my mind, seek their protection;
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਦੇਹਿ ॥
Man Than Apanaa Thin Jan Dhaehi
||
मनु तनु अपना तिन जन देहि ॥
Give your mind and body to those
humble beings.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
Jin Jan Apanaa Prabhoo
Pashhaathaa ||
जिनि जनि अपना प्रभू पछाता ॥
Those humble beings who recognizes
God
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਰਬ ਥੋਕ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
So Jan Sarab Thhok Kaa Dhaathaa
||
सो जनु सरब थोक का दाता ॥
Are the givers of all things.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
This Kee Saran Sarab Sukh Paavehi
||
तिस की सरनि सरब सुख पावहि ॥
In His Sanctuary, all comforts are
obtained.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਮਿਟਾਵਹਿ ॥

Mittaavehi ||
तिस कै दरसि सभ पाप मिटावहि ॥
By the Blessing of His Darshan, all
sins are erased.
ਅਵਰ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਸਗਲੀ ਛਾਡੁ ॥
Avar Siaanap Sagalee Shhaadd ||
अवर सिआनप सगली छाडु ॥
So renounce all other clever
devices,
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
This Jan Kee Thoo Saevaa Laag ||
तिसु जन की तू सेवा लागु ॥
And enjoin yourself to the service
of those servants.
ਆਵਨੁ ਜਾਨੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Aavan Jaan N Hovee Thaeraa ||
आवनु जानु न होवी तेरा ॥
Your comings and goings shall be
ended.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਸਦ ਪੈਰਾ ॥੮॥੧੭॥

सति पुरखु जिनि जानिआ सतिगुरु तिस का नाउ ॥
The one who knows the True Lord God,
is called the True Guru.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਿਖੁ ਉਧਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥

Naanak Har Gun Gaao ||1||
तिस कै संगि सिखु उधरै नानक हरि गुन गाउ ॥१॥
In His Company, the Sikh is saved, O
Nanak, singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||

सेवक कउ गुरु सदा दइआल ॥
The Guru is always merciful to His
servant.

सिख की गुरु दुरमति मलु हिरै ॥
The Guru washes away the filth of
the evil intellect of His Sikh.

गुर बचनी हरि नामु उचरै ॥

गुर कै ग्रिहि सेवकु जो रहै ॥
That selfless servant, who lives in
the Guru's household,
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਸਹੈ ॥
Gur Kee Aagiaa Man Mehi Sehai ||
गुर की आगिआ मन महि सहै ॥
Is to obey the Guru's Commands with
all his mind.
ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਜਨਾਵੈ ॥
Aapas Ko Kar Kashh N Janaavai ||
आपस कउ करि कछु न जनावै ॥
He is not to call attention to
himself in any way.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਦ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥
Har Har Naam Ridhai Sadh
Dhhiaavai ||
हरि हरि नामु रिदै सद धिआवै ॥
He is to meditate constantly within
his heart on the Name of the Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਬੇਚੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥
Man Baechai Sathigur Kai Paas ||
मनु बेचै सतिगुर कै पासि ॥
One who sells his mind to the True
Guru
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
This Saevak Kae Kaaraj Raas ||
तिसु सेवक के कारज रासि ॥
- that humble servant's affairs are
resolved.
ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਕਾਮੀ ॥
Saevaa Karath Hoe Nihakaamee ||
सेवा करत होइ निहकामी ॥
One who performs selfless service,
without thought of reward,
ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
This Ko Hoth Paraapath Suaamee ||
तिस कउ होत परापति सुआमी ॥
Shall attain his Lord and Master.
ਅਪਨੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Apanee Kirapaa Jis Aap Karaee ||
अपनी क्रिपा जिसु आपि करेइ ॥
He Himself grants His Grace;
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਲੇਇ ॥੨॥

अनिक बार गुर कउ बलि जाउ ॥
So many times, I am a sacrifice to
the Guru.

सरब निधान जीअ का दाता ॥
He is the treasure of everything,
the Giver of life.

आठ पहर पारब्रहम रंगि राता ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, He is
imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.

The servant is in God, and God is in

एकहि आपि नही कछु भरमु ॥
He Himself is One - there is no
doubt about this.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਨਪ ਲਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

सहस सिआनप लइआ न जाईऐ ॥
By thousands of clever tricks, He is
not found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥

भेटत संगि राम गुन रवे ॥
Abiding in His Company, one chants
the Lord's Praise,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਵੇ ॥
Paarabreham Kee Dharageh Gavae ||
पारब्रहम की दरगह गवे ॥
And reaches the Court of the Supreme
Lord God.
ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਚਨ ਕਰਨ ਆਘਾਨੇ ॥
Sun Kar Bachan Karan Aaghaanae ||
सुनि करि बचन करन आघाने ॥
Listening to His Teachings, one's
ears are satisfied.
ਮਨਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਆਤਮ ਪਤੀਆਨੇ ॥
Man Santhokh Aatham Patheeaanae
||
मनि संतोखु आतम पतीआने ॥
The mind is contented, and the soul
is fulfilled.
ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਖ੍ਯ੍ਯਓ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ॥

Beholding His Ambrosial Glance, one
becomes saintly.

गुण बिअंत कीमति नही पाइ ॥
Endless are His virtuous qualities;
His worth cannot be appraised.

जिहबा एक उसतति अनेक ॥
The tongue is one, but His Praises
are many.

सति पुरख पूरन बिबेक ॥
The True Lord, of perfect perfection

काहू बोल न पहुचत प्रानी ॥
No speech can take the mortal to
Him.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਿਰਬਾਨੀ ॥
Agam Agochar Prabh Nirabaanee ||
अगम अगोचर प्रभ निरबानी ॥
God is Inaccessible, Incomprehensible,
balanced in the state of Nirvaanaa.
ਨਿਰਾਹਾਰ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
Niraahaar Niravair Sukhadhaaee ||
निराहार निरवैर सुखदाई ॥
He is not sustained by food; He has
no hatred or vengeance; He is the Giver of peace.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Thaa Kee Keemath Kinai N Paaee ||
ता की कीमति किनै न पाई ॥
No one can estimate His worth.
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਗਤ ਬੰਦਨ ਨਿਤ ਕਰਹਿ ॥

अनिक भगत बंदन नित करहि ॥
Countless devotees continually bow
in reverence to Him.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ॥

चरन कमल हिरदै सिमरहि ॥
In their hearts, they meditate on
His Lotus Feet.
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਪਨੇ ॥

सद बलिहारी सतिगुर अपने ॥
Nanak is forever a sacrifice to the
True Guru;
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਪਨੇ ॥੫॥

By His Grace, he meditates on God.

इहु हरि रसु पावै जनु कोइ ॥
Only a few obtain this ambrosial
essence of the Lord's Name.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
Anmrith Peevai Amar So Hoe ||
अम्रितु पीवै अमरु सो होइ ॥
Drinking in this Nectar, one becomes
immortal.
ਉਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥

That person whose mind is

जा कै मनि प्रगटे गुनतास ॥
By the treasure of excellence, never
dies.

सचु उपदेसु सेवक कउ देइ ॥
The Lord gives true instruction to
His servant.
ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਲੇਪੁ ॥
Moh Maaeiaa Kai Sang N Laep ||
मोह माइआ कै संगि न लेपु ॥
He is not polluted by emotional
attachment to Maya.
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ॥
Man Mehi Raakhai Har Har Eaek ||
मन महि राखै हरि हरि एकु ॥
In his mind, he cherishes the One
Lord, Har, Har.
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਦੀਪਕ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ॥
Andhhakaar Dheepak Paragaasae ||
अंधकार दीपक परगासे ॥
In the pitch darkness, a lamp shines
forth.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਰਮ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਤਹ ਤੇ ਨਾਸੇ ॥੬॥

नानक भरम मोह दुख तह ते नासे ॥६॥
O Nanak, doubt, emotional attachment
and pain are erased. ||6||
ਤਪਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਠਾਢਿ ਵਰਤਾਈ ॥

तपति माहि ठाढि वरताई ॥
In the burning heat, a soothing
coolness prevails.
ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

अनदु भइआ दुख नाठे भाई ॥
Happiness ensues and pain departs, O
Siblings of Destiny.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸੇ ॥
Janam Maran Kae Mittae Andhaesae
||
जनम मरन के मिटे अंदेसे ॥
The fear of birth and death is
dispelled,
ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਉਪਦੇਸੇ ॥
Saadhhoo Kae Pooran Oupadhaesae
||
साधू के पूरन उपदेसे ॥
By the perfect Teachings of the Holy
Saint.
ਭਉ ਚੂਕਾ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹੋਇ ਬਸੇ ॥
Bho Chookaa Nirabho Hoe Basae ||
भउ चूका निरभउ होइ बसे ॥
Fear is lifted, and one abides in
fearlessness.
ਸਗਲ ਬਿਆਧਿ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਖੈ ਨਸੇ ॥
Sagal Biaadhh Man Thae Khai Nasae
||
सगल बिआधि मन ते खै नसे ॥
All evils are dispelled from the mind.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Jis Kaa Saa Thin Kirapaa Dhhaaree
||
जिस का सा तिनि किरपा धारी ॥
He takes us into His favor as His
own.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥
Saadhhasang Jap Naam Muraaree ||
साधसंगि जपि नामु मुरारी ॥
In the Company of the Holy, chant
the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਥਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਚੂਕੇ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਗਵਨ ॥

थिति पाई चूके भ्रम गवन ॥
Stability is attained; doubt and
wandering cease,
ਸੁਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥੭॥

सुनि नानक हरि हरि जसु स्रवन ॥७॥
O Nanak, listening with one's ears
to the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||7||
ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਗੁਨੁ ਭੀ ਓਹੀ ॥
Niragun Aap Saragun Bhee Ouhee ||
निरगुनु आपि सरगुनु भी ओही ॥
He Himself is absolute and
unrelated; He Himself is also involved and related.
ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਗਲੀ ਮੋਹੀ ॥
Kalaa Dhhaar Jin Sagalee Mohee ||
कला धारि जिनि सगली मोही ॥
Manifesting His power, He fascinates
the entire world.
ਅਪਨੇ ਚਰਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਆਪਿ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
Apanae Charith Prabh Aap Banaaeae
||
अपने चरित प्रभि आपि बनाए ॥
God Himself sets His play in motion.
ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
Apunee Keemath Aapae Paaeae ||
अपुनी कीमति आपे पाए ॥
Only He Himself can estimate His
worth.
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Har Bin Dhoojaa Naahee Koe ||
हरि बिनु दूजा नाही कोइ ॥
There is none, other than the Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sarab Niranthar Eaeko Soe ||
सरब निरंतरि एको सोइ ॥
Permeating all, He is the One.
ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ॥
Outh Poth Raviaa Roop Rang ||
ओति पोति रविआ रूप रंग ॥
Through and through, He pervades in
form and color.
ਭਏ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗ ॥
Bheae Pragaas Saadhh Kai Sang ||
भए प्रगास साध कै संग ॥
He is revealed in the Company of the
Holy.
ਰਚਿ ਰਚਨਾ ਅਪਨੀ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Rach Rachanaa Apanee Kal Dhhaaree
||
रचि रचना अपनी कल धारी ॥
Having created the creation, He
infuses His own power into it.
ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੮॥੧੮॥

अनिक बार नानक बलिहारी ॥८॥१८॥
