साथि न चालै बिनु भजन बिखिआ सगली छारु ॥
Nothing shall go along with you,
except your devotion. All corruption is like ashes.

Pure are the instructions of the
humble Saints.

Keep faith in the One Lord within
your mind.

सरब रोग नानक मिटि जाहि ॥१॥
All disease, O Nanak, shall then be
dispelled. ||1||
ਜਿਸੁ ਧਨ ਕਉ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਉਠਿ ਧਾਵਹਿ ॥

जिसु धन कउ चारि कुंट उठि धावहि ॥
The wealth which you chase after in
the four directions
ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
So Dhhan Har Saevaa Thae Paavehi
||
सो धनु हरि सेवा ते पावहि ॥
You shall obtain that wealth by
serving the Lord.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਨਿਤ ਬਾਛਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
Jis Sukh Ko Nith Baashhehi Meeth
||
जिसु सुख कउ नित बाछहि मीत ॥
The peace, which you always yearn for, O friend
ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥
So Sukh Saadhhoo Sang Pareeth ||
सो सुखु साधू संगि परीति ॥
That peace comes by the love of the
Company of the Holy.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਹਿ ਭਲੀ ਕਰਨੀ ॥
Jis Sobhaa Ko Karehi Bhalee
Karanee ||
जिसु सोभा कउ करहि भली करनी ॥
The glory, for which you perform
good deeds
ਸਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ॥
Saa Sobhaa Bhaj Har Kee Saranee
||
सा सोभा भजु हरि की सरनी ॥
- you shall obtain that glory by
seeking the Lord's Sanctuary.
ਅਨਿਕ ਉਪਾਵੀ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Anik Oupaavee Rog N Jaae ||
अनिक उपावी रोगु न जाइ ॥
All sorts of remedies have not cured
the disease
ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਹਰਿ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Rog Mittai Har Avakhadhh Laae ||
रोगु मिटै हरि अवखधु लाइ ॥
- the disease is cured only by
giving the medicine of the Lord's Name.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥

सरब निधान महि हरि नामु निधानु ॥
Of all treasures, the Lord's Name is

मनु परबोधहु हरि कै नाइ ॥
Enlighten your mind with the Name of
the Lord.
ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵਤ ਆਵੈ ਠਾਇ ॥
Dheh Dhis Dhhaavath Aavai Thaae

दह दिसि धावत आवै ठाइ ॥
Having wandered around in the ten directions,
it comes to its place of rest.
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Thaa Ko Bighan N Laagai Koe ||
ता कउ बिघनु न लागै कोइ ॥
No obstacle stands in the way of one
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
Jaa Kai Ridhai Basai Har Soe ||
जा कै रिदै बसै हरि सोइ ॥
Whose heart is filled with the Lord.
ਕਲਿ ਤਾਤੀ ਠਾਂਢਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Kal Thaathee Thaandtaa Har Naao
||
कलि ताती ठांढा हरि नाउ ॥
The Dark Age of Kali Yuga is so hot;
the Lord's Name is soothing and cool.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਉ ॥
Simar Simar Sadhaa Sukh Paao ||
सिमरि सिमरि सदा सुख पाउ ॥
Remember, remember it in meditation,
and obtain everlasting peace.
ਭਉ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਇ ਆਸ ॥

भउ बिनसै पूरन होइ आस ॥
Your fear shall be dispelled, and
your hopes shall be fulfilled.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥

भगति भाइ आतम परगास ॥
By devotional worship and loving
adoration, your soul shall be enlightened.

तितु घरि जाइ बसै अबिनासी ॥
You shall go to that home, and live forever.

One who contemplates the essence of
reality, is said to be the true person.
ਜਨਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਚੋ ਕਾਚਾ ॥

जनमि मरै सो काचो काचा ॥
Birth and death are the lot of the
false and the insincere.
ਆਵਾ ਗਵਨੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੇਵ ॥
Aavaa Gavan Mittai Prabh Saev ||
आवा गवनु मिटै प्रभ सेव ॥
Coming and going in reincarnation is
ended by serving God.
ਆਪੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥

आपु तिआगि सरनि गुरदेव ॥
Give up your selfishness and
conceit, and seek the Sanctuary of the Divine Guru.

Not by studying the Simritees, the
Shaastras or the Vedas.

हरि की भगति करहु मनु लाइ ॥
Worship the Lord with whole-hearted

मनि बंछत नानक फल पाइ ॥४॥
O Nanak, you shall obtain the fruits

Your wealth shall not go with you;

Power, pleasure, and the vast
expanse of Maya

इन ते कहहु कवन छुटकार ॥
Who has ever escaped from these?

Horses, elephants, chariots and
pageantry
ਝੂਠਾ ਡੰਫੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਪਾਸਾਰੀ ॥
Jhoothaa Ddanf Jhooth Paasaaree

झूठा ड्मफु झूठु पासारी ॥
- false shows and false displays.
ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਨ ਬਿਗਾਨਾ ॥

जिनि दीए तिसु बुझै न बिगाना ॥
The fool does not acknowledge the
One who gave this;

सुनत कहत रहत गति पावहु ॥
Hearing, speaking and living it,
emancipation is obtained.

सार भूत सति हरि को नाउ ॥
The essential reality is the True
Name of the Lord.

गुन गावत तेरी उतरसि मैलु ॥
Chanting His Glories, your filth
shall be washed off.

बिनसि जाइ हउमै बिखु फैलु ॥
The all-consuming poison of ego will
be gone.
ਹੋਹਿ ਅਚਿੰਤੁ ਬਸੈ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
Hohi Achinth Basai Sukh Naal ||
होहि अचिंतु बसै सुख नालि ॥
You shall become carefree, and you
shall dwell in peace.

सासि ग्रासि हरि नामु समालि ॥
With every breath and every morsel
of food, cherish the Lord's Name.

छाडि सिआनप सगली मना ॥
Renounce all clever tricks, O mind.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਨਾ ॥

साधसंगि पावहि सचु धना ॥
In the Company of the Holy, you
shall obtain the true wealth.
ਹਰਿ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਸੰਚਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥

हरि पूंजी संचि करहु बिउहारु ॥
So gather the Lord's Name as your
capital, and trade in it.
ਈਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥
Eehaa Sukh Dharageh Jaikaar ||
ईहा सुखु दरगह जैकारु ॥
In this world you shall be at peace,
and in the Court of the Lord, you shall be acclaimed.

See the One permeating all;

Meditate on the One, and worship the

Remember the One, and yearn for the
One in your mind.

एकस के गुन गाउ अनंत ॥
Sing the endless Glorious Praises of
the One.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਜਾਪਿ ਏਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥

मनि तनि जापि एक भगवंत ॥
With mind and body, meditate on the
One Lord God.

एको एकु एकु हरि आपि ॥
The One Lord Himself is the One and
Only.

The Pervading Lord God is totally

The many expanses of the creation
have all come from the One.

Adoring the One, past sins are
removed.

Mind and body within are imbued with

After wandering and wandering, O
God, I have come, and entered Your Sanctuary.

जाचक जनु जाचै प्रभ दानु ॥
I am a beggar; I beg for this gift
from You:
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Dhaevahu Har Naam ||
करि किरपा देवहु हरि नामु ॥
Please, by Your Mercy, Lord, give me
Your Name.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮਾਗਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
Saadhh Janaa Kee Maago Dhhoor ||
साध जना की मागउ धूरि ॥
I ask for the dust of the feet of
the Holy.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥

पारब्रहम मेरी सरधा पूरि ॥
O Supreme Lord God, please fulfill
my yearning;

सदा सदा प्रभ के गुन गावउ ॥
May I sing the Glorious Praises of
God forever and ever.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਉ ॥
Saas Saas Prabh Thumehi Dhhiaavo

सासि सासि प्रभ तुमहि धिआवउ ॥
With each and every breath, may I
meditate on You, O God.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
Charan Kamal Sio Laagai Preeth ||
चरन कमल सिउ लागै प्रीति ॥
May I enshrine affection for Your
Lotus Feet.
ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥

भगति करउ प्रभ की नित नीति ॥
May I perform devotional worship to
God each and every day.
ਏਕ ਓਟ ਏਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥
Eaek Outt Eaeko Aadhhaar ||
एक ओट एको आधारु ॥
You are my only Shelter, my only
Support.

Nanak asks for the most sublime, the
Naam, the Name of God. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Prabh Kee Dhrisatt Mehaa Sukh Hoe
||
प्रभ की द्रिसटि महा सुखु होइ ॥
By God's Gracious Glance, there is
great peace.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਇ ॥
Har Ras Paavai Biralaa Koe ||
हरि रसु पावै बिरला कोइ ॥
Rare are those who obtain the juice
of the Lord's essence.
ਜਿਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਨੇ ॥
Jin Chaakhiaa Sae Jan
Thripathaanae ||
जिन चाखिआ से जन त्रिपताने ॥
Those who taste it are satisfied.
ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਹੀ ਡੋਲਾਨੇ ॥
Pooran Purakh Nehee Ddolaanae ||
पूरन पुरख नही डोलाने ॥
They are fulfilled and realized
beings - they do not waver.
ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
Subhar Bharae Praem Ras Rang ||
सुभर भरे प्रेम रस रंगि ॥
They are totally filled to
over-flowing with the sweet delight of His Love.
ਉਪਜੈ ਚਾਉ ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Oupajai Chaao Saadhh Kai Sang ||
उपजै चाउ साध कै संगि ॥
Spiritual delight wells up within,
in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਪਰੇ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਨ ਸਭ ਤਿਆਗਿ ॥
Parae Saran Aan Sabh Thiaag ||
परे सरनि आन सभ तिआगि ॥
Taking to His Sanctuary, they
forsake all others.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
Anthar Pragaas Anadhin Liv Laag
||
अंतरि प्रगास अनदिनु लिव लागि ॥
Deep within, they are enlightened,
and they center themselves on Him, day and night.
ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਪਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Baddabhaagee Japiaa Prabh Soe ||
बडभागी जपिआ प्रभु सोइ ॥
Most fortunate are those who
meditate on God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Sukh Hoe ||2||
नानक नामि रते सुखु होइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, attuned to the Naam, they
are at peace. ||2||
ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੀ ਭਈ ॥
Saevak Kee Manasaa Pooree Bhee ||
सेवक की मनसा पूरी भई ॥
The wishes of the Lord's servant are
fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮਤਿ ਲਈ ॥
Sathigur Thae Niramal Math Lee ||
सतिगुर ते निरमल मति लई ॥
From the True Guru, the pure
teachings are obtained.
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਦਇਆਲੁ ॥
Jan Ko Prabh Hoeiou Dhaeiaal ||
जन कउ प्रभु होइओ दइआलु ॥
Unto His humble servant, God has
shown His kindness.
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥
Saevak Keeno Sadhaa Nihaal ||
सेवकु कीनो सदा निहालु ॥
He has made His servant eternally
happy.
ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
Bandhhan Kaatt Mukath Jan Bhaeiaa
||
बंधन काटि मुकति जनु भइआ ॥
The bonds of His humble servant are
cut away, and he is liberated.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
Janam Maran Dhookh Bhram Gaeiaa
||
जनम मरन दूखु भ्रमु गइआ ॥
The pains of birth and death, and
doubt are gone.
ਇਛ ਪੁਨੀ ਸਰਧਾ ਸਭ ਪੂਰੀ ॥
Eishh Punee Saradhhaa Sabh Pooree
||
इछ पुनी सरधा सभ पूरी ॥
Desires are satisfied, and faith is
fully rewarded,
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਦ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਜੂਰੀ ॥
Rav Rehiaa Sadh Sang Hajooree ||
रवि रहिआ सद संगि हजूरी ॥
Imbued forever with His
all-pervading peace.
ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਲੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Jis Kaa Saa Thin Leeaa Milaae ||
जिस का सा तिनि लीआ मिलाइ ॥
He is His - he merges in Union with
Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
Naanak Bhagathee Naam Samaae

नानक भगती नामि समाइ ॥३॥
Nanak is absorbed in devotional
worship of the Naam. ||3||
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਘਾਲ ਨ ਭਾਨੈ ॥

सो किउ बिसरै जि घाल न भानै ॥
Why forget Him, who does not
overlook our efforts?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
So Kio Bisarai J Keeaa Jaanai ||
सो किउ बिसरै जि कीआ जानै ॥
Why forget Him, who acknowledges
what we do?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਆ ॥

सो किउ बिसरै जिनि सभु किछु दीआ ॥
Why forget Him, who has given us
everything?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਆ ॥
So Kio Bisarai J Jeevan Jeeaa ||
सो किउ बिसरै जि जीवन जीआ ॥
Why forget Him, who is the Life of
the living beings?
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ॥

सो किउ बिसरै जि अगनि महि राखै ॥
Why forget Him, who preserves us in
the fire of the womb?
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਕੋ ਬਿਰਲਾ ਲਾਖੈ ॥
Gur Prasaadh Ko Biralaa Laakhai
||
गुर प्रसादि को बिरला लाखै ॥
By Guru's Grace, rare is the one who
realizes this.
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਜਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਤੇ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
So Kio Bisarai J Bikh Thae
Kaadtai ||
सो किउ बिसरै जि बिखु ते काढै ॥
Why forget Him, who lifts us up out
of corruption?
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਟੂਟਾ ਗਾਢੈ ॥
Janam Janam Kaa Ttoottaa Gaadtai
||
जनम जनम का टूटा गाढै ॥
Those separated from Him for
countless lifetimes, are re-united with Him once again.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਤੁ ਇਹੈ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ॥
Gur Poorai Thath Eihai Bujhaaeiaa
||
गुरि पूरै ततु इहै बुझाइआ ॥
Through the Perfect Guru, this
essential reality is understood.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੪॥

प्रभु अपना नानक जन धिआइआ ॥४॥
O Nanak, God's humble servants
meditate on Him. ||4||
ਸਾਜਨ ਸੰਤ ਕਰਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
Saajan Santh Karahu Eihu Kaam ||
साजन संत करहु इहु कामु ॥
O friends, O Saints, make this your
work.
ਆਨ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Aan Thiaag Japahu Har Naam ||
आन तिआगि जपहु हरि नामु ॥
Renounce everything else, and chant
the Name of the Lord.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
Simar Simar Simar Sukh Paavahu ||
सिमरि सिमरि सिमरि सुख पावहु ॥
Meditate, meditate, meditate in
remembrance of Him, and find peace.
ਆਪਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
Aap Japahu Avareh Naam Japaavahu
||
आपि जपहु अवरह नामु जपावहु ॥
Chant the Naam yourself, and inspire
others to chant it.
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਤਰੀਐ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Bhagath Bhaae Thareeai Sansaar ||
भगति भाइ तरीऐ संसारु ॥
By loving devotional worship, you
shall cross over the world-ocean.
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
Bin Bhagathee Than Hosee Shhaar
||
बिनु भगती तनु होसी छारु ॥
Without devotional meditation, the
body will be just ashes.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਸੂਖ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Sarab Kaliaan Sookh Nidhh Naam ||
सरब कलिआण सूख निधि नामु ॥
All joys and comforts are in the treasure
of the Naam.
ਬੂਡਤ ਜਾਤ ਪਾਏ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ॥
Booddath Jaath Paaeae Bisraam ||
बूडत जात पाए बिस्रामु ॥
Even the drowning can reach the
place of rest and safety.
ਸਗਲ ਦੂਖ ਕਾ ਹੋਵਤ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
Sagal Dhookh Kaa Hovath Naas ||
सगल दूख का होवत नासु ॥
All sorrows shall vanish.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਗੁਨਤਾਸੁ ॥੫॥

नानक नामु जपहु गुनतासु ॥५॥
O Nanak, chant the Naam, the
treasure of excellence. ||5||
ਉਪਜੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਉ ॥
Oupajee Preeth Praem Ras Chaao ||
उपजी प्रीति प्रेम रसु चाउ ॥
Love and affection, and the taste of
yearning, have welled up within;
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਇਹੀ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
Man Than Anthar Eihee Suaao ||
मन तन अंतरि इही सुआउ ॥
Within my mind and body, this is my
purpose:
ਨੇਤ੍ਰਹੁ ਪੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Naethrahu Paekh Dharas Sukh Hoe
||
नेत्रहु पेखि दरसु सुखु होइ ॥
Beholding with my eyes His Blessed
Vision, I am at peace.
ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਸਾਧ ਚਰਨ ਧੋਇ ॥
Man Bigasai Saadhh Charan Dhhoe
||
मनु बिगसै साध चरन धोइ ॥
My mind blossoms forth in ecstasy,
washing the feet of the Holy.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
Bhagath Janaa Kai Man Than Rang
||
भगत जना कै मनि तनि रंगु ॥
The minds and bodies of His devotees
are infused with His Love.
ਬਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੰਗੁ ॥
Biralaa Kooo Paavai Sang ||
बिरला कोऊ पावै संगु ॥
Rare is the one who obtains their
company.
ਏਕ ਬਸਤੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥
Eaek Basath Dheejai Kar Maeiaa ||
एक बसतु दीजै करि मइआ ॥
Show Your mercy - please, grant me
this one request:
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਲਇਆ ॥
Gur Prasaadh Naam Jap Laeiaa ||
गुर प्रसादि नामु जपि लइआ ॥
By Guru's Grace, may I chant the
Naam.
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Thaa Kee Oupamaa Kehee N Jaae ||
ता की उपमा कही न जाइ ॥
His Praises cannot be spoken;
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੬॥
Naanak Rehiaa Sarab Samaae ||6||
नानक रहिआ सरब समाइ ॥६॥
O Nanak, He is contained among all.

प्रभ बखसंद दीन दइआल ॥
God, the Forgiving Lord, is kind to
the poor.
ਭਗਤਿ ਵਛਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
Bhagath Vashhal Sadhaa Kirapaal
||
भगति वछल सदा किरपाल ॥
He loves His devotees, and He is
always merciful to them.
ਅਨਾਥ ਨਾਥ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੁਪਾਲ ॥

अनाथ नाथ गोबिंद गुपाल ॥
The Patron of the patronless, the
Lord of the Universe, the Sustainer of the world,
ਸਰਬ ਘਟਾ ਕਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Sarab Ghattaa Karath Prathipaal
||
सरब घटा करत प्रतिपाल ॥
The Nourisher of all beings.
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥

आदि पुरख कारण करतार ॥
The Primal Being, the Creator of the
Creation.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥

||
भगत जना के प्रान अधार ॥
The Support of the breath of life of
His devotees.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥
Jo Jo Japai S Hoe Puneeth ||
जो जो जपै सु होइ पुनीत ॥
Whoever meditates on Him is
sanctified,
ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਵੈ ਮਨ ਹੀਤ ॥
Bhagath Bhaae Laavai Man Heeth ||
भगति भाइ लावै मन हीत ॥
Focusing the mind in loving
devotional worship.
ਹਮ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੀਆਰ ਨੀਚ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
Ham Niraguneeaar Neech Ajaan ||
हम निरगुनीआर नीच अजान ॥
I am unworthy, lowly and ignorant.
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੁਰਖ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੭॥

नानक तुमरी सरनि पुरख भगवान ॥७॥
Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, O
Supreme Lord God. ||7||
ਸਰਬ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਮੋਖ ਪਾਏ ॥
Sarab Baikunth Mukath Mokh Paaeae
||
सरब बैकुंठ मुकति मोख पाए ॥
Everything is obtained: the heavens,
liberation and deliverance,
ਏਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਏ ॥
Eaek Nimakh Har Kae Gun Gaaeae ||
एक निमख हरि के गुन गाए ॥
If one sings the Lord's Glories,
even for an instant.
ਅਨਿਕ ਰਾਜ ਭੋਗ ਬਡਿਆਈ ॥
Anik Raaj Bhog Baddiaaee ||
अनिक राज भोग बडिआई ॥
So many realms of power, pleasures
and great glories,
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ॥
Har Kae Naam Kee Kathhaa Man
Bhaaee ||
हरि के नाम की कथा मनि भाई ॥
Come to one whose mind is pleased
with the Sermon of the Lord's Name.
ਬਹੁ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਾਪਰ ਸੰਗੀਤ ॥
Bahu Bhojan Kaapar Sangeeth ||
बहु भोजन कापर संगीत ॥
Abundant foods, clothes and music
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਤ ॥
Rasanaa Japathee Har Har Neeth ||
रसना जपती हरि हरि नीत ॥
Come to one whose tongue continually
chants the Lord's Name, Har, Har.
ਭਲੀ ਸੁ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥

Dhhanavanth ||
भली सु करनी सोभा धनवंत ॥
His actions are good, he is glorious
and wealthy;
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸੇ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ ॥

हिरदै बसे पूरन गुर मंत ॥
The Mantra of the Perfect Guru
dwells within his heart.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥

साधसंगि प्रभ देहु निवास ॥
O God, grant me a home in the
Company of the Holy.
